Kenmore® Brings Microban® Antimicrobial Technology to Refrigeration Category
Exclusive Kenmore Refrigeration Features Deliver Peace of Mind to Homeowners
International Builders Show -- Today, Kenmore unveiled a breakthrough in refrigeration technology with the addition of crisper drawers with Microban® antimicrobial product protection. Featuring Microban antimicrobial technology, the new crisper drawer will remain fresh longer between cleanings(1) and deliver peace of mind to busy parents and homeowners.
Breathe Easy: Microban® Antimicrobial Technology Meets Kenmore Innovation
In new Kenmore refrigeration models, the crisper drawer is infused with Microban antimicrobial protection to continuously inhibit the growth of stain and odor causing bacteria. This technology, available in more than 750 products worldwide, debuts in Kenmore refrigeration in April 2008.
While the Microban antimicrobial feature is not a replacement for regular cleanings, it ensures the surface of the crisper bin doesn't harbor stain and odor causing bacteria between cleanings. The protection lasts the lifetime of the refrigerator and does not wash or wear away over time.
Based on current data from the U.S. Bureau of the Census(2) over half of all married couples are dual-earners, decreasing the time they have available for domestic chores. Kenmore continues to pursue appliance innovations that enhance kitchen functionality to ease chore time and set restless minds at ease.
"The goal with all of our refrigerators is to help simplify the process of storing and preparing food and beverages," said Tina Settecase, vice president and general manager for home appliances at Sears, Roebuck and Co. "The introduction of Microban antimicrobial protection into Kenmore refrigeration is the latest example of how we can simplify time in the kitchen. With Kenmore, homeowners can be confident about the freshness of their refrigerator."
Kenmore Exclusives Offer Peace of Mind
Kenmore and Sears are committed to providing American homeowners with highly functional, beautiful kitchens to simplify home life. In addition to Microban technology, Kenmore also offers features like PuR® filtered water and ENERGY STAR® appliances to save consumers time and money.
Crystal Clear -- All Kenmore Elite refrigerators come equipped with a PuR® Ultimate II water filter with two-stage filtration. This filter removes more impurities for the cleanest tasting water. The feature also saves families from having to purchase costly plastic bottled water. In fact, if more consumers switched to filtered tap water, a significant amount of oil would be saved each year.(3)
Go Green -- Many Kenmore refrigerators meet or exceed ENERGY STAR® standards, delivering peace of mind when it comes to energy consumption in the kitchen.
Price and Availability
Kenmore refrigerators with Microban antimicrobial technology will be available exclusively at Sears stores nationwide in April 2008. They are offered in white, stainless steel, biscuit, satina and black. Prices range from $1,099 to $1,399, depending on color and model.
