Christina Aguilera Kicks Off Her First Headlining Tour on July 31 'Sears and Levi's® Present Christina Aguilera In Concert'

Dynamic, Soulful Singer Redefines 'Teen Sensation' with An Edgy, Theatrical Show

Christina Aguilera, the Grammy winning singer with the amazingly powerful and sweetly soulful voice, is set to explode tonight in Kansas City, Kas., as the 19-year-old hits the stage for her first headlining tour, Sears and Levi's® Present Christina Aguilera In Concert. One of the most highly anticipated shows of the summer, Christina brings a theatrical vibe to her first tour, fueled by her phenomenal voice, band, dancers and opening act, Destiny's Child.

Christina's headlining tour, sponsored by Sears, Roebuck and Co. and Levi's, will rock 35 cities coast-to-coast in 11 weeks before wrapping up in mid-October. The six-time platinum star will sing, dance and rev up a variety of venues, from outdoor amphitheatres in Nashville and New York, to metropolitan megastages in Chicago and Los Angeles.

Fans across the country will capture the excitement of the tour at Christina Boutiques, which are unique shopping areas featuring Christina merchandise and exclusive enhanced CDs in Levi's jeans displays at 650 Sears full-line stores. A national ticket promotion held in August by Sears and Levi's will give one lucky fan the chance to go shopping one-on-one with Christina and introduce her on-stage at a concert in California.

"Headlining my own tour means creative control and a high-energy, let- loose show. It's designed with my band and dancers to be a visually exciting mix of my big hits and some special surprises," said Christina. "Plus, my sponsors, Sears and Levi's, are giving fans lots of ways to get involved with the tour, like exclusive CDs and posters, a chance to win a backstage pass to hang with me and a cause-related program called Come On Over and Do Something that was created specifically for the tour."

For her first tour Christina brings her powerful voice to the forefront, with new arrangements covering her idol, jazz great Etta James, and putting her signature choreographed moves behind her chart-topping tunes, "Genie In A Bottle" and "What A Girl Wants." Behind the scenes, Christina will be making a difference with nonprofit Do Something, promoting her national programs like the "Sears and Levi's Youth Empowerment Grants" which will provide $500 grants to 50 young activists throughout the tour.

This year's Grammy winner for Best New Artist, Christina has already sold more than 6 million albums in the U.S. since the release of her chart-topping self-titled 1999 RCA debut. Recently featured on the covers of "Entertainment Weekly" and "Rolling Stone," Christina's music serves as ample proof that she is not just the next pop idol, but a prime candidate for the voice of her generation. The Sears and Levi's Present Christina Aguilera In Concert tour marks another huge step for Christina up the ladder of commercial and critical success.
