Sears Tuscaloosa Employees Volunteer to Prepare More Than $200,000 in New Clothing Donations for Tornado Victims
WHO: Sears Tuscaloosa store employees volunteer their time to prepare more than 20 pallets of new children's apparel for residents impacted by the recent tornado. The Salvation Army of West Alabama will distribute the merchandise to families on Friday, Dec. 22. WHAT: Sears has donated more than $200,000 (retail value) of new children's apparel to Kids in Distressed Situations (K.I.D.S.) for distribution to the Salvation Army of West Alabama. K.I.D.S., a national organization based in New York City, encourages and facilitates donations of merchandise for children, including victims of natural disasters. In addition, Sears has contributed $10,000 to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund to aid in disaster recovery efforts. WHEN: Thursday, December 21, from 1 to 2 p.m. WHERE: Salvation Army of West Alabama, 1303 McFarland Blvd. in the Woodsquare Shopping Center.
